Green Tea Hibiscus Lemonade
A refreshing, tart, and floral drink perfect for warm days.
Ingredients:

For the Hibiscus Simple Syrup:

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup sugar
-
4 whole dried hibiscus flowers

For the Green Tea
-
8g green tea (we used Two Hills Tea’s Organic Sencha Seijaku)

2 cups water
-

For the Lemonade
-
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)

2 cups water
-
2 tbsp hibiscus simple syrup (from above)

For the Hibiscus Lemon Sugar Rim

Zest of 1 lemon
-
2-3 tbsp sugar
-
1 tsp red matcha powder

Instructions:

Make the Hibiscus Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and hibiscus flowers.

Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.

Simmer until the syrup turns a deep reddish-pink and reaches your desired tartness.

Strain out the flowers and let the syrup cool completely.

Brew the Green Tea

Heat 2 cups of water to the appropriate temperate for your green tea (around 70–80°C if using sencha).

Add the tea and steep for 2-3 minutes.

Strain and let cool.

Make the Lemonade

In a large jar, combine lemon juice, water, and 2 tbsp cooled hibiscus syrup. Stir well.

Prepare the Sugar Rim

In a small bowl, mix together lemon zest, sugar, and red matcha powder until evenly combined.

To rim your glasses: dim the rim of a glass into lemon juice (or rub a lemon wedge around the rim), then dip into the sugar mixture to coat.

Assemble the Drink.

In a large pitcher, combine the following and chill thoroughly:

2 cups brewed green tea

2 cups hibiscus lemonade
